Two years ago my husband and I welcomed a beautiful little girl into our family. At the time I was working as a college professor. I left my on-campus career to stay home with our daughter, only to realize I had no idea what I was doing! I mean really, I had to go to post-secondary school for six years to be trusted with a room full of young adults...but I could just go to the hospital and have a baby? What followed was a self-led crash course in learning how to play and relate to my daughter. I love the idea of "playing with purpose" and am finding my way day by day. This site is to help and connect with other moms like me, who aren't bent on being perfect, but do want to be the very best moms we can be.

How it Works:

The purpose of this blog is to bring mamas and kiddos together and to address seven learning areas for children through play:

• Creative Arts
• Physical Health
• Literacy
• Language
• Mathematics
• Science
• Social & Emotional Growth 

Each day of the week is dedicated to a different learning area, and relevant posts will detail play activities that correspond with developmental goals in that area.

Where Our Information Comes From:

Please understand that in no way does this blog or any of its authors claim to provide expert opinions on child development or mothering psychology. The only thing we are amateur professionals at is being good mamas. We are learning everyday, and trusting others to guide us on our journey. 

Our developmental goal areas are based off of information obtained from PBS Parents site. Because I am the primary poster on this site, I gear most activities toward toddlers, though most activities can be adjusted by age. Guest posters may post activities relevant to children of other ages as well.
